Johns River Cemetery |
This cemetery is located on Route 135, near the intersection of Route 142, and lies next to Johns River just above where it joins the Connecticut River. Burials date from about 1806 to the present. The graves of Moses Blake and his wife Lucy are here. They were the first settlers of Dalton, arriving around 1787. Moses Blake operated a tavern and established the ferry across the Connecticut River. The land where this cemetery is situated was originally owned by Moses Blake. The Historical Society has digital photographs of all gravestones in Johns River Cemetery. |
